Job Description:

Department Overview:
TD Innovation Partners (TDIP) is a full-service technology banking team providing bespoke, high-touch banking and financial services to address the needs of technology entrepreneurs from ideation to IPO and beyond. Our team collaborates with innovative technology and venture-backed companies in the Commercial National Accounts (CNA), Commercial Midmarket and Small Business Banking space, leveraging their industry knowledge and extensive deal structuring experience to offer a full suite of customized credit and cash management solutions to meet the complex needs of our clients.

As an Associate, Capital Solutions, you'll work alongside a team of technology experts to assess new lending opportunities, underwrite credit facilities, and manage reporting and performance of client accounts. Your role will include regular monitoring of the TDIP portfolio to ensure compliance, screening new prospective clients, preparing credit memos to support our lending recommendations, and engaging in market development activities to shape how TDIP shows up in the ecosystem.

What your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting credit underwriting and due diligence for prospective and existing clients, including preparing financing proposals aligned with TDIP policy (structure, terms, covenants, pricing) and tailored to various client needs.
  • Actively participate in client meetings with senior Capital Solutions and Relationship Managers to understand due diligence and make recommendations to internal and external decision makers.
  • Recommending credits to Associate Director/Director, Capital Solutions and Commercial Credit Risk Management.
  • Preparing annual reviews and interim credit requests for your portfolio of clients, including understanding interim business performance, strategic updates, and impacts of broader market trends.
  • Owning the monitoring and control processes for the portfolio, including reporting requirements, covenant testing, and communicating portfolio outcomes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of these processes.
  • Partnering with Relationship Management on day-to-day client support, portfolio growth and business development activities in market.
  • Staying informed about new technologies, broader market conditions, and industry developments to contribute insights that enhance the bank's position in the technology sector.

Education/Accreditations:
An undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance or other quantitative discipline. MBA, CPA or CFA would be an asset.

  • You're a self-starter who likes to be proactive about their learning and development, and are comfortable in dynamic, fast-paced work environments.

  • You know how to ask the right questions of clients and colleagues to build understanding. You approach due diligence with genuine curiosity to understand fundamental business, financial, and industry risks.
  • You're capable of understanding and analyzing financial data, by diving into complexity and making sense of large volumes of information, but can also cut through the noise to highlight what really matters.
  • You're an excellent communicator with strong writing skills, in order to clearly communicate thoughts and findings in team meetings and via prepared credit memos.
  • You're a committed team player, with strong organizational skills and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the work we do.
  • No prior experience in the technology ecosystem is required, but will be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in direct investment or lending would be an asset.
