The Associate Business Intelligence Analyst (ABIA) is responsible for performing strategic data analysis for the MEMIC Group using internal and third-party datasets. The ABIA will be responsible for working across all business areas on developing, maintaining and executing data programs to increase data visualization for the MEMIC Group utilizing enterprise data including underwriting, loss control, finance, and claims as well as external sources. The ABIA will work closely with the BIAs, Senior BIA and Manager, Business Intelligence in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the MEMIC Group’s Data Analytics policies and procedures.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
- **Assists in analyzing complex business problems and issues from internal and external sources to provide insight for decision-makers.
- **Actively participates in team meetings, offering insights and suggestions to improve business processes.
- **Creates, deploys, maintains and executes data visualization reports.
- **Identifies, analyzes and summarizes trends in results and develops that aid data-driven decision making. Queries large databases and datasets to present relevant data and insights to stakeholders.
- **Actively seeks opportunities for skill development and industry education to stay up to date on current technologies and remain efficient. Collaborates with partners throughout the business to understand where data is collected and how various teams are leveraging it.
- **Builds rapport and communicates effectively with team members and stakeholders. Effectively gathers requirements for analysis and reporting with guidance.
- Participates in testing and/or data validation efforts for new systems or new data initiatives upon request.
- Attends Industry and Company events as well as internal meetings upon request.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative Analysis or related field of study. One year of data analytics experience preferred.
- One year of experience in commercial insurance preferred; Workers’ Compensation experience preferred.
- AIDA or other pertinent industry or data-related certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated strong data analytical skills.
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel and proficient with Microsoft Access, SharePoint, PowerBI, and SQL.
- Strong written and verbal communication including the ability to communicate results and follow up on corrective actions when/if necessary.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce with superior accuracy.
- Ability to self-motivate to meet strict timelines when necessary.
- Willing to accept new responsibilities and shift priorities as needed.
- Ability to handle constructive criticism with the willingness to improve.
