Location: For this role we are looking for the successful candidate to work on a hybrid basis from our office in Galway City, two to three days per week.

We're seeking an Associate AI/ML Engineer to join our Conversational AI team and contribute to the development of our Virtual Agents platform. In this role, you'll work on innovative projects that push the boundaries of conversational experiences while helping deliver our vision towards Agentic AI. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI technologies while working on problems of moderate scope under the guidance of experienced team members.

What You Will Do:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our Virtual Agents engine, working on features and components of moderate complexity

  • Support proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives exploring new conversational AI capabilities and agentic AI approaches

  • Collaborate with team members to solve technical problems within the conversational AI domain

  • Implement and test AI/ML models for natural language understanding, dialogue management, and response generation

  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, working to build alignment around project tasks

  • Analyse data and system performance to identify issues and opportunities for improvement

  • Document technical work and communicate findings to team members

  • Work on smaller, well-defined projects that contribute to broader team goals

What We Are Looking For

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)

  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and natural language processing fundamentals

  • Programming proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow established procedures and best practices

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to team members

  • Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies

  • Commitment to self-development and building technical proficiency

Awareness of or an Interest in Learning:

  • Conversational AI platforms, chatbots, or virtual assistant technologies

  • Large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering

  • Dialogue systems, intent classification, or entity recognition

  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their AI/ML services

  • Agentic AI concepts, autonomous agents, or multi-agent systems

  • Emerging AI trends such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or AI orchestration

  • Software development practices including version control (Git), testing, and CI/CD

  • Human-computer interaction and user experience in conversational contexts
