San Francisco Full time

Join Goodwin’s Global Operations Team, and make a real impact on a global scale. At Goodwin, we work with some of the world’s most successful and innovative investors, entrepreneurs and disruptors in the life sciences, private equity, real estate, technology and financial industries, and where they converge. As part of the Global Operations Team – all business professionals at the firm – you’ll collaborate with colleagues from varied backgrounds and experiences, fostering an environment where cross-functional learning, networking, and collaboration are at the core of what we do.

Here, we’re not just supporting a law firm; we’re partnering with attorneys and clients to deliver cutting-edge solutions in high-stakes litigation and dispute resolution, world-class regulatory compliance and advisory services, and complex transactions. Our commitment to integrity, ingenuity, agility, and ambition drives us, and we’re proud to have been recognised as the “Best Business Team” by The American Lawyer.

This is your opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic, global environment, surrounded by forward-thinking peers.

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Associate AI Developer to join our growing Digital & Technology team. In this role, you will work closely with legal associates, business stakeholders, and senior developers to help design, build, and maintain AI-powered software solutions that enhance the firm's capabilities and efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer looking to grow their expertise in applied AI within a dynamic legal environment. Partner with legal associates and business teams to understand their workflows, identify pain points, and translate those needs into practical, well-scoped technical solutions.

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle — from requirements gathering and design through to implementation, testing, and deployment.

  • Support senior developers in the delivery of production-quality applications hosted on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Generative AI, LLMs, and other cloud-native services.

  • Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code using programming languages and frameworks common in modern AI application development (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs).

  • Assist in integrating software solutions with on-premises and cloud-based business systems and data sources, ensuring secure and reliable end-to-end functionality for internal and external users.

  • Contribute to code reviews, testing, and debugging to uphold coding standards and best practices across the team.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, AI frameworks, tools, and industry trends, and bring relevant opportunities to the team's attention.

  • Contribute to internal documentation, including solution designs, technical guides, and standard operating procedures to support maintainability and knowledge sharing across the team.

  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives to grow the collective capability in custom software and AI development.

  • Research and evaluate external tools, third-party integrations, and emerging platforms to identify opportunities that could enhance or accelerate the firm's solutions.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 0–3 years of experience in software development.

  • Proficiency in one or more languages relevant to AI/ML development, such as Python, TypeScript, C# or JAVA.

  • Familiarity with APIs, cloud services, and data integration patterns.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Occasional travel as needed.
