Job Summary

Join our Underwriting team where you'll evaluate insurance risks, make sound business decisions, and help grow our portfolio of long-term, profitable business. You’ll build strong relationships with field partners and producers, provide responsive customer service, and contribute to special projects that support department goals. As you develop your analytical and communication skills, you’ll progress through the underwriting job family with increasing independence and leadership opportunities.

  • Analyze and underwrite insurance risks (10–999 life range)
  • Build and maintain relationships with producers and internal teams
  • Participate in training and mentoring others
  • Support departmental projects and initiatives
  • Apply underwriting guidelines, procedures, and state regulations

Skills and Background You’ll Need

Must-haves:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in underwriting or similar analytical role
  • Strong decision-making and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Experience mentoring or training others
  • Familiarity with state insurance statutes and contract provisions

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

24.76 - 36.30
