The full-time 9-month tenure track faculty position will be responsible for teaching 8-week online Public Administration graduate courses and other political science courses as needed and coordinating the online MPA program beginning August of 2026. Tenure is not transferable upon hire. Years in service might count toward tenure and promotion. Some remote work is possible.
Duties include teaching a 3/3 course load, active scholarship agenda, and service to the University and local community.
Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire. No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach and develop Public Administration courses.
Teach other Political Science classes as needed.
Coordinate the MPA program, including scheduling graduate classes in consultation with the Political Science Program Coordinator, overseeing the curriculum, developing new MPA classes and concentrations as needed, and assessing program and course learning goals.
Perform professional scholarly activities such as conference presentations and publications.
Participate in institutional and professional service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
Assistant Professor Rank
Doctorate/PhD or ABD in Political Science with a Public Administration focus from an accredited institution. ABD will be considered at the rank of Lecturer if doctoral/terminal degree is not conferred by the hire date
Evidence of teaching in an accredited university setting or similar experience.
Ability to effectively teach 8-week online graduate courses in Public Administration.
Experience coordinating an academic program.
Experience producing scholarship related to Public Administration.
Associate Professor Rank
Doctorate/PhD in Political Science with a Public Administration focus from an accredited institution.
Evidence of teaching in an accredited university setting or similar experience for at least five years.
Ability to effectively teach 8-week online graduate courses in Public Administration.
Experience coordinating an academic program for at least five years.
Experience producing scholarship related to Public Administration for at least five years.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to engage in service, such as collaboration with faculty members and participation in program, division, college, university, and professional activities.
Experience in instructional design and course development, including online teaching and active learning strategies.
