Assistant Vice President – Technology Risk Management

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Technology Risk Management is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and delivering technology risk strategy across Nasdaq’s regulated market infrastructure and technology solutions businesses. The role combines deep business knowledge of the exchanges industry with applied technology, cyber, and operational risk expertise, ensuring technology risks are managed in line with regulatory expectations, business priorities, and Nasdaq’s risk appetite.

The AVP will lead a globally distributed team, engage directly with senior executives, Boards, and regulators, and represent Technology Risk Management in internal forums. This is a hands‑on leadership role, requiring both strategic direction and active involvement in delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement technology risk strategy aligned to Nasdaq’s Enterprise Risk Management framework and risk appetite
  • Apply Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) and market‑structure knowledge to assess technology risk across the full trading lifecycle and supporting market services
  • Lead all aspects of technology risk coverage across regulated exchanges and critical infrastructure, as well as technology solutions businesses including data, analytics, SaaS, cloud, and digital platforms
  • Provide senior oversight and challenge across topics including cyber security, cloud, third‑party risk, operational resilience, and technology change
  • Support regulatory examinations and ongoing engagement with U.S. and European regulators as required (e.g. SEC, CFTC, ESMA, European national regulators)
  • Prepare and present technology risk insights to Boards, executive committees, and senior governance forums
  • Drive risk management initiatives for emerging technologies, including AI/ML, digital assets, quantum and cloud adoption
  • Lead, coordinate, and develop a globally distributed technology risk team, setting clear priorities and standards
  • Partner with and challenge the 1st line operations teams as required to enhance the controls environment
  • Collaborate with the broader Group Risk Team, Legal, Compliance, InfoSec and Internal Audit teams to maximise the value of combined assurance across 2nd and 3rd line teams

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive validated experience in technology risk, operational risk, cyber risk, or technology leadership within financial services, exchanges / market infrastructure
  • Confirmed ability to pair business knowledge of the exchanges industry with technology risk management concepts
  • Experience supporting or overseeing regulated market infrastructure alongside unregulated or commercial technology businesses
  • Proven experience presenting to Boards, senior management, and regulators in the U.S. and Europe
  • Experience managing risk across a portfolio of businesses with varied risk appetites

Technical and Risk Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of cyber security, operational resilience, cloud, third‑party risk
  • Understanding of critical market infrastructure requirements, including availability, recovery, capacity, and incident management
  • Experience governing risks related to AI, digital assets, and cloud technologies

If you have any relevant certifications or qualifications in Technology Risk, Operational Risk, Cyber Security, AI, Digital Risk, or Cloud (e.g. CISSP, CISM, or equivalent), please state those in your resume.

    This position is located in Stockholm, Sweden, and offers a hybrid work environment with at least 3 days per week in the office.
