General Responsibilities
Lead or serve as the primary management point of contact for strategic Division initiatives and/or projects.
Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders within the Bank, across the Federal Reserve System, and with external partners, to support the creation of high-quality research and the mission of the Bank.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Division, Bank, and System policies, procedures, and controls to provide the highest level of public confidence and operational integrity.
Administer Bank policies for areas of responsibility; ensure policies remain current; seek interpretation and clarification where necessary. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement them.
Promote an environment in which all employees feel they belong and can contribute to the Bank’s work. Model and develop an organizational culture that encourages strong employee engagement and reduces barriers to productive work.
Represent the Bank through leadership positions at the Bank and Federal Reserve System level, including contributing to key System functions and initiatives; consider actions within the System that are relevant to the Bank and Division, and work with Division leaders and staff to translate ideas into concrete action plans.
Position-Specific Responsibilities
Manage a highly engaged team of 16 professional subject matter experts who provide program, analytical, technology, and administrative support to researchers. Facilitate open communications with staff and manage performance and professional development.
Oversee and manage the Division’s technology portfolio, working with partners in Local and National IT groups to maintain Research’s technology roadmap, align initiatives with business goals, optimize resource allocation, and ensure successful project execution.
Manage Division budget and finance activities, including budget planning, forecasting, monitoring and compliance, in order to achieve financial goals.
Provide oversight to the extensive programming activities of the Division, including:
Maintain and build the relationship between the Research Division and the University of Minnesota Economics Department through effective communication and collaboration.
Coordinate tracking and reporting of the activities of the Division to the Bank and Board of Governors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Additional education beyond a bachelor’s degree preferred.
Ten years of progressively more responsible related professional experience with five or more years of leading teams and managing people. Ability to motivate, develop, and lead a diverse team through collaboration and consensus and promote a culture of service, accountability, and innovation. Experience successfully driving change through collaboration and matrix management.
Experience successfully managing an operational area within a business, including responsibility for operations management, technology, compliance, accounting and finance, and talent management.
Experience providing administrative and academic support to researchers (e.g., technology, data, publications, administration) in a university department or similar setting strongly preferred.
Excellent writing and presentation skills. Demonstrated performance implementing strategic plans. Strategic and critical thinker with the analytical skills necessary to evaluate, organize, and direct complex projects and programs.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to relate and communicate at all levels. Exceptional customer-service orientation with the ability to influence across the organization.
Demonstrated ability to manage and make decisions considering changing priorities.
Discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential, varied, and complex issues.
This position requires access to confidential supervisory information (CSI) and/or Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) information. Access to CSI and FOMC information is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals who meet the definition of “protected individual” under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), and certain other nonimmigrants. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens must sign a declaration of intent to expeditiously become a U.S. citizen when eligible.
The salary range is $158,500-286,500. The expected starting salary range is $185,000-200,000. Salary offer will be based on qualifications/experience of the candidate, alignment with market data, the needs of the position, our total compensation package, and internal equity.
