Job Summary:

HKEX is looking for a highly motivated Assistant Vice President for its Government Relations function in the Corporate Communications Division(CCD)

The successful candidate will be a core member of a dedicated team driving HKEX’s government relations and stakeholder engagement activities, sharing the Group’s strategic priorities by delivering timely and relevant updates with key stakeholder groups, as well as maintaining close contact with them to feedback insights and perspectives to the Group on matters relevant to our business and our markets. .

The candidate will also support some business management functions for CCD, including divisional budgeting, procurement and other control responsibilities, conducted in close collaboration with other relevant HKEX teams.

Job Duties:

The individual will work across the business to support the development and execution of HKEX’s government relations strategy and stakeholder engagement program.


As part of the Group’s Corporate Communications team, the role will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Government Relations and collaborate closely with the wider communications team. 

The Group’s Communications Team is responsible for protecting and building the Group’s external brand and helping frame and shape its internal culture. The team works closely with the HKEX Board, executive, senior management and business to ensure that HKEX’s brand and reputation is accurately and positively reflected amongst its extensive local, Chinese Mainland and international stakeholder groups. The Group’s Communications team oversees Media and Government Relations, Strategic Communications, Internal and Digital Communications and Events.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong working-level relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry association representatives, ensuring HKEX's perspectives are effectively communicated.

  • Lead the planning, preparation, and execution of high-level meetings, consultations, and events with government stakeholders, including developing agendas, briefing materials, and post-engagement reports.

  • Prepare, draft, and edit a range of robust and persuasive communications, including formal submissions, speaking points for senior executives, presentation decks, and official correspondence.

  • Proactively track, analyze, and report on relevant policy, legislative, and regulatory developments that impact the Group's business and markets, using data processing tools to manage and distill large volumes of information.

  • Conduct in-depth research and quantitative analysis on public policy issues; prepare detailed briefing notes, impact assessments, and policy papers that outline financial implications, risks, and strategic opportunities

  • Act as a liaison between the team and departments on business initiatives, align messaging, and ensure a cohesive approach to external engagement.

  • Utilize data analysis to map stakeholder landscapes, identify key influencers, and help develop targeted engagement plans to advance HKEX’s strategic priorities.

  • Support business management functions for CCD including divisional budgeting, procurement and other control responsibilities.  

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant field such as Government Relations, Public Policy, or a finance-related role requiring stakeholder engagement.

  • Proven ability to collect, process, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data

  • Demonstrated skill in using analytical insights to build relationships and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Exceptional skills in drafting clear, concise, and persuasive documents, reports, and presentations.

  • A strong understanding of finance, budgeting, or economic principles. Understanding of capital markets and global current affairs is highly desirable.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua

  • A motivated self-starter with excellent judgement, integrity, and professionalism.
