Job description

  • The jobholder will lead our Capital and Treasury function, overseeing the company's capital management, liquidity, and treasury operations to ensure financial stability and optimize the company's financial performance.

Preferred skills

  • Develop and implement capital management strategies to maintain a steady repatriation stream to the holding company while preserving a strong solvency position.
  • Optimise capital planning and solvency positions to support robust new business growth and strategic investments while maintaining regulatory compliance and financial stability.
  • Ensure compliance with HKRBC, BMA, and other regulatory requirements related to capital adequacy and liquidity.
  • Monitor and analyse market conditions, regulatory changes, and industry trends. Identify and mitigate financial risks, such as interest rate changes or currency fluctuations, that could impact the company's capital and liquidity.
  • Partner with the Actuarial team to interpret and present capital-related calculations and analyses.
  • Lead treasury operations, including cash management, funding, and financial risk management.
  • Optimise cash flows by accurately forecasting operational cash requirements, aiming to maximise funds available for investment opportunities while maintaining adequate liquidity to meet the company's operational needs and repatriation requirements. 
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, leveraging these partnerships to identify opportunities supporting business growth. Negotiate service agreements and fees to ensure cost-effective banking services. 
  • Manage relationships with rating agencies and lead the annual rating review process.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors on capital and treasury matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science
  • 10+ years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles within the insurance industry
  • Strong understanding of life insurance market, regulatory environment, and capital requirements
  • Expertise in capital management and treasury operations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation
