THE JOB:
As an Assistant Lab Technician, you will support the attending veterinarian and animal care management team by delivering exceptional customer service and complying with all established protocols set by the Ohio State Racing Commission Veterinarian.
THE STARTING RATE: $16.46
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Assist veterinarians with blood draws on assigned horses, labeling blood tubes and filling out appropriate paperwork
Collect urine samples for testing purposes using sterile methods and techniques, which may include whistling, walking the animal, and/or applying a muzzle and blinkers
Pack samples with sterile techniques in accordance with the Ohio State Racing Commision standard
Cleaning your designed stalls/barns
Communicate regularly with the Veterinarian and Animal Care Department Director
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Possesses previous experience working with horses and is confident in handling them
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Capable of maintaining a calm and composed demeanor in a frequently challenging environment
High School Diploma or GED required
Two or more years of prior relevant experience
Availability to work evenings, nights, and weekend
