Job Summary: The United States Attorney's Office prosecutes federal criminal offenses, seeks recovery of government funds fraudulently obtained, litigates affirmative civil fraud and enforcement actions, and defends the U.S. Government's interest in civil cases. In addition to the main office in downtown Atlanta, we maintain three intermittently staffed offices located in Rome, Newnan, and Gainesville. This position is located in Atlanta, GA. Additional positions may be filled using this announcement.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree (or equivalent), be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1-year post-J.D. (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: 3 years of post-JD experience (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience. Ideal applicants should be capable of efficiently drafting high-quality pleadings under time constraints. They must demonstrate strong analytical ability. They must have superior writing and logical reasoning skills, as well as the ability to explain cases orally. Preferred experience includes federal clerkships, appellate experience, criminal litigation, and significant legal writing experience. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
