Job Summary: The United States Attorney's Offices prosecute federal criminal offenses and represent the interests of the US in civil cases. The USAO for the Eastern District of Arkansas is located in Little Rock and covers 41 of the state's 75 counties. Hearings and trials are conducted in Little Rock, Jonesboro, and Helena-West Helena. Major Duties:

  • The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas (EDAR) has (2) or more permanent vacancies for trial attorneys in the Criminal Division located in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a member of the Criminal Division, assignments include the investigation and prosecution of drug trafficking, immigration crimes, violent offenses, public corruption, terrorism, white collar crimes, civil rights violations, firearms offenses, and organized crime. This vacancy includes (2) positions funded by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act; these positions will focus on narcotics and drug prosecutions, and various immigration matters. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1-year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. The Criminal AUSA position offers a unique and challenging experience for highly motivated team players with the desire to litigate extensively. Applicants must demonstrate analytical ability, good judgement, organization skills, excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants should have litigation experience and courtroom skills. In addition, applicants must exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with courthouse personnel, other attorneys, support staff, and client agencies. United States citizenship is required for consideration. Preferred Qualifications: Outstanding academic record. Complex litigation experience. Exceptional research and writing ability. The ability to successfully represent the interests of the United States in federal court. The ability to successfully manage a heavy caseload involving complex cases.
