Major Duties:

  • Overview of the United States Attorney's Office - District of Vermont The United States Attorney's Office, District of Vermont, is located in Burlington, Vermont. The office has approximately 22 Assistant United States Attorneys and 24 support staff, which support both the criminal and civil divisions. Our office has a friendly and talented staff, an outstanding relationship with the courts, and enjoys excellent professional working relationships with partner agencies. Duties of Criminal Assistant United States Attorneys The office is currently seeking applicants to fill two Assistant U.S. Attorney positions in the Criminal Division. Assignments will include responsibility for all phases of criminal prosecution, from providing guidance to law enforcement officers, initiating criminal charges, conducting grand jury proceedings and trials, handling appeals, and asset forfeiture matters. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1 year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Proof of active bar membership in good standing is required. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants must also have litigation experience, excellent writing skills, superior oral communication skills, and a demonstrated capacity to function in a highly demanding environment with minimal guidance. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
