The Opportunity  

Due to an internal secondment, we have an opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Dunedin-based team on a 12month fixed-term contract. This is an administration-focused role, supporting our Underwriters across Property, Motor and Liability portfolios, with scope to work independently while being part of a collaborative team.

Your new role  

Reporting to the Team Leader - Administration, you’ll support the smooth day-to-day operation of the underwriting function and contribute to high-quality service delivery. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing administrative support across insurance policies, including new business, mid-term adjustments (MTAs), renewals, cancellations and lapses.

  • Supporting activities such as credit control, producing Certificates of Insurance, and processing policies and schedules.

  • Building effective working relationships and ensuring timely, clear communication with internal stakeholders.

You enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, take ownership of your work, and bring a strong focus on accuracy and customer service. 

You’ll also bring: 

  • Experience in an administration role, with strong attention to detail.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and use initiative when making decisions.

  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Confidence using Excel and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.

  • The ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
