About the Role
The Assistant to General Manager and Head of Orthopaedic Surgery will provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Orthopaedic Unit. This role partners closely with senior leadership to manage priorities, coordinate activities, and ensure the smooth running of both strategic and day-to-day operations. The Administration Assistant is responsible for delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders, providing initiative, and sound judgement. They will support the Director and broader Department team in achieving strategic objectives, while proactively managing administrative functions, communications, and workflow to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience as an Executive Assistant supporting senior leaders, ideally within a complex or healthcare environment, with strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities with professionalism.


Classifications for this position will range from HS3 - HS25 ($74,448.40 - $82,305.60 per annum).

Your Contribution

  • Must have previous experience in an Executive Assistant role
  • Medical Terminology Course and/or previous experience in medical/hospital field
  • Previous Health Industry Experience
  • Knowledge of and competent use of Microsoft Applications
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About The Orthopaedic Department

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, surgically focused management of patients with muscle, bone, and joint disease. The Department has long been considered as one of the leaders in academic Orthopaedic and Sarcoma Surgery in Australia. The Department of Orthopaedics is accredited by AOA as a training hospital. The Department is engaged in research of international recognition and is affiliated with the University of Melbourne.
