QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Pass the EEI TECH test
  • Minimum of thirty-six (36) credit hours in an ABET accredited engineering or engineering technology curriculum or be currently active (or become active the next available school semester and remain active until schooling requirements are completed) in obtaining the preceding schooling requirements
  • Must be capable of neat and accurate work and willing to devote time and study toward self‑improvement.
  • Must be able to deal courteously and effectively with the general public and other personnel in person, in writing, and by telephone. 
  • All other general qualifications such as attendance and punctuality, safety and performance will be considered.

Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related training or experience:

  • GTech or DDS
  • O-Calc
  • SAG10
  • SPANS
  • National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • SAP
  • Preparation of diagrams, sketches and prints and the ability to interpret complex plans
  • Skilled trade related to an engineering discipline
  • Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant’s ability to perform the job

PRIMARY DUTIES: Provides technical assistance of a sub-professional level for civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical or other engineering disciplines in the office, plant, or in the field. 

Perform duties such as:

  • Designing overhead and underground electrical infrastructure for road project relocations, make-ready work, new circuits, and reliability projects.
  • Preparing detailed field layouts, construction prints, and work orders.
  • Performing structural and electrical analyses, including voltage drop and mechanical loading.
  • Collaborating with survey crews to ensure project data accuracy and assisting in the completion of field-based deliverables.
  • Serving as a technical point of contact for customers, contractors, and vendors regarding project requirements and timelines.
  • Preparing and initiating easement requests and multi-agency permits (e.g., Railroad, INDOT, and local), ensuring all technical specifications are met prior to final acquisition.
  • Conducting field inspections of construction projects to ensure conformance with design specifications, documenting and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Providing training to less senior employees.
