Assistant(e) technique R&D
Description d’emploi
Ciena est à la recherche d’un(e) assistant technique R&D. Cette personne participera à l’assemblage de prototypes, à la caractérisation des composants d’optique intégrée, ainsi qu’à la gestion du laboratoire.
Au sein de l’équipe des Opérations R&D, votre rôle consistera à:
- Assister les autres membres de l’équipe dans le développement de nouveaux procédés de fabrication et de tests de composants;
- Opérer les équipements de fabrication en lien avec la production de micro-puces;
- Opérer les équipements de fabrication en lien avec l’assemblage de prototypes (attache de micro-puces, micro-câblage, inspection sur microscope automatisé, etc);
- Utiliser des stations de tests afin de caractériser les composants et les prototypes que nous assemblons;
- Effectuer l’inspection des pièces ou composants lorsque requis;
- Collaborer à l’amélioration des performances du produit et des procédés;
- Interagir avec les autres membres de l’équipe (technologues, ingénieurs, chercheurs, etc…) pour le développement des prototypes et des nouveaux produits;
- Assurer la gestion de l’inventaire des pièces et composants;
- Participer au suivi des équipements nécessitant maintenance et étalonnage;
- Effectuer l’enregistrements de données associées à l’assemblage;
- Gérer vos priorités de réalisation parmi les mandats reçus, dans le but de respecter vos échéanciers;
- Vous impliquer dans la rédaction et l’amélioration des procédures d’opération et d’inspection.
Qualifications requises / profil recherché
- Vous détenez au minimum un diplôme d’études secondaires;
- Atout: Attestation d’études collégiales en optique photonique appliquée;
- Vous avez de l’expérience et de bonnes connaissances dans l’un des domaines suivants :
- Manipulation de composants optiques (Alignement optique et couplage de fibres optiques à des guides d’onde, etc …);
- Manipulation, nettoyage et fusions de fibre optique;
- Prototypage et assemblage opto-mécanique;
- Vous démontrez de bonnes habiletés manuelles et êtes à l’aise avec l’opération d’équipement de pointe et l’utilisation du matériel informatique;
- Vous possédez un bon esprit d’équipe.

R&D Technical assistant
Job description
Ciena is opening a position for a R&D technical assistant. The holder of this position will participate in the manufacturing of prototypes, in the characterization of integrated photonic components as well as in the lab management.
Acting in the R&D Operation Group, your role will be to:
- Operate various manufacturing equipment to build prototypes (die bonder, wire bonder, automated inspection microscope, etc)
- Use test stations to characterize the components and the prototypes;
- Contribute to the product performance improvements;
- Interact with other team members (optical, mechanical, RF, system engineers and technicians) for efficient development of prototypes and products;
- Manage and keep the part inventory up-to-date and participate in the procurement process when required
- Participate in the equipment calibration and maintenance plan;
- Search and purchase components and instruments from suppliers;
- Manage your work time to meet your scheduled tasks;
- Keep technical documentation up to date;
- Get involved in improving tools and work techniques.
Required Qualifications / Profile
- You have successfully completed high school;
- You have experience and good knowledge in one of the following domains:
- Manipulation of optical components (optical alignment, optical fiber coupling, etc…);
- Manipulation, cleaning and splicing of optical fibers;
- Opto-mechanical prototyping.
- You have excellent manual dexterity and are comfortable with the use of high-tech equipment and computers;
- You have an excellent team spirit;

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
