Assistant Teacher- Children's Enrichment Center (Temporary Hourly- Spring/Summer)

This position provides safety, supervision, and care for children while supporting the implementation of classroom activities and routines. The assistant teacher works collaboratively with the lead teacher and other staff to help create a supportive, safe, and caring environment for every child. They assist with educational activities, classroom management, and daily tasks to ensure the classroom runs smoothly and that each child’s needs are met.

Essential Functions: 

$16.00 per hour

Essential Functions: 

  • Act as the secondary care provider and instructor for assigned classroom group.

  • Implement and maintain safety policies and procedures within and outside the classroom.

  • Utilize Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold assessment, observations, and software.

  • Help facilitate weekly lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate, support Creative Curriculum, support the well-being of the whole child, and that are designed to meet each child’s specific developmental need.

  • Help lead teach in completion of child observations, reflection, and implementing classroom learning materials according to appropriate developmental need.

  • Maintain appropriate and professional relationships with families while demonstrating to families that their child/children’s needs are being best met.

  • Participate in approved professional development opportunities and will meet or exceed annual training requirements for licensing, Great Start Readiness Program, and Great Start to Quality.

  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or child related field (must meet LARA qualification requirements). A Child Development Associates (CDA) may be considered.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a related field.

  • Knowledge of Early Childhood developmental standards.

  • Ability to lead in the classroom and in the building with professional leadership skills, kindness, and respect towards student staff.

  • Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and students in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and active listening skills de-escalation techniques, and an understanding of appropriate discipline techniques.

  • Desire and ability to provide effective and impactful teaching.

  • Creative lesson planning and implementation skills

  • Ability to lead with empathy within and outside of the classroom. · Passion for educating and shaping children. · Be a team player with a passionate, cheerful, patient, energetic, and friendly attitude. ·

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience using Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.

  • Experience with collaboration program planning and stakeholder relationship building and management.

  • Experience providing childcare within a higher education environment.

Working Conditions: 

Work will be performed within a childcare/ preschool center. Some travel may be required for training purposes.
