The Fire & Life Safety Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing the installation, inspection, maintenance, and compliance of fire protection and life safety systems across fire sprinkler, fire suppression, or any other requested departments in the organization. This role helps coordinate field operations, ensures adherence to codes and safety standards, and assists in managing crews, schedules, and project quality.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in supervising daily field activities for fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and life safety system projects.
Coordinate crews, subcontractors, and materials to maintain project timelines.
Monitor work quality to ensure compliance with NFPA codes, local regulations, and company standards.
Help plan and track project schedules, manpower, and job progress.
Review blueprints, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and constructability.
Communicate with project managers, inspectors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Support job site safety meetings, audits, and incident reporting.
Assist with system testing, inspections, and documentation for code compliance.
Provide guidance and support to technicians.
Help train and mentor junior field staff.
Step in to lead crews when the Superintendent is unavailable.
Maintain daily reports, job logs, and progress updates.
Assist with tracking change orders, deficiencies, and punch lists.
Ensure accurate inspection and testing records are completed and submitted.
Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualifications:
A high school education or equivalent required.
3+ years industry experience and state licensing preferred (CAL FIRE Sprinkler Fitter or C‑16 Fire Protection Contractor).
Working knowledge of NFPA codes.
Experience in field operations or crew leadership.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
NICET certification (Level II or higher preferred).

Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
Ability to work in the field (construction sites, industrial environments, heights, confined spaces).
Capable of lifting 50+ pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Pay Range:
$30.00 - $40.00 Hourly DOE
