Sanford Research, in collaboration with North Dakota State University’s College of Health and Human Sciences, is hiring an Assistant Scientist. This position will be responsible for supporting faculty and scientists’ biostatistical needs in clinical research, as well as providing didactic instruction and student mentoring through the university. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in biostatistics, including methodology and design, hypothesis testing, bioanalytic approaches, and power analyses. Preferred candidates will have experience with clinical research, NIH grant writing, large data sets and teaching and mentoring. Candidates may have their own line of research.Summary
Assistant Scientist plans, coordinates, implements and conducts independent scientific research. Research would include but is not limited to complex laboratory testing, experiments and analysis following established protocols.Job Description
Analyzes and evaluates findings. Organizes and conceptualizes ideas leading to proposals. Writes technical summaries and publications. Prepares and makes formal presentations of research results. Considered the principal investigator on grants. An established as co-author or senior author of proposals, journal articles and technical reports. High level of knowledge in scientific research processes, procedures, and objectives. Possess ability to implement experiments in the subject discipline with the ability to trouble shoot issues. Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline required. Possesses ability to run complex pieces of equipment requiring advanced specialized training. Possess knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis. Significant experience in analyzing and evaluating data. General level of knowledge of project management, decision-making, and analytical skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team. Sanford Research is a multi-site institution and occasional local travel between sites may be required.Qualifications
