About this unit 

CPCU is a 28-bed Progressive Care Unit specializing in cardiac patients. The unit includes 16 private rooms, 2 semi-private inpatient rooms, and 4 semi-private outpatient rooms. We are the only Progressive Care Unit that cares for post-operative open-heart patients, individuals receiving Tikosyn (an antiarrhythmic medication), and patients recovering from cardiac interventions. Our nurses are highly skilled in removing femoral lines and managing radial bands following procedures.

Scope of work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.

Qualifications

  • Effective June 1, 2025, a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is Required.
  • Two years of recent, relevant inpatient clinical experience (cardiac, progressive or acute care) Required.
  • Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital, or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, or Charge nurse role) Preferred.
  • MI RN license Required. 
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
