GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

The Assistant Registrar for Curriculum provides collaborative leadership and innovative expertise to solve complex problems. Reporting to the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar for Curriculum will manage the curriculum and related tasks and processes within the Office of the Registrar. The Assistant Registrar for Curriculum manages the production of the course schedule, the catalog, and works with other members of the Registrar team to provide timely and accurate services for general office processing and assisting with academic policies and procedures.                         

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the production of the course schedule, and for adding and maintaining new and revised courses.
  • Serve on and provide administration for the Curriculum Committee including communication to constituents as necessary.
  • Manages the updating and publication of the Academic Catalog, ensuring accuracy and synchronicity with other systems.
  • Responsible for the creation of the room schedule, and for assuring accurate room reservations in the EMS system for academic courses.
  • Supervise the Records Assistant, and provide all necessary training and guidance.
  • Responsible for independent studies, including submissions and review, creation, and registration.
  • Assist with systems upgrades and testing in conjunction with Information Technology.
  • Provide internal training for registrar staff and assist with on-campus technology training for the college community as needed.
  • Provide customer service for in-person, phone, and email inquiries.
  • Assist with general office functions including, but not limited to, registration, transcripts, verifications, grades, transfer credit, and graduation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex information, apply academic policies accurately, and make independent decisions within established guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain academic policies clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, staff, families, and external agencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort learning new technologies, databases, and student information systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and institutional policies.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sound professional judgment.

Experience/Education: Bachelor’s degree required. At least five years of progressive experience in higher education, including experience in the office of the registrar or academic records.

Time Type:  Full Time

Work Schedule: This is a regular, exempt, staff position, working 12 months per year. The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary depending on the operational needs of the College or department, including evenings and weekends as required.

Compensation: Budgeted Salary Range: $71,000-$74,000 per year Pitzer College is committed to providing comprehensive benefits to eligible employees and their eligible dependents. Work Model: Hybrid* ( up to 2 Days/Wk Remote) 

  • *Must have access to reliable and secure computer and internet connection.
  • *Must have access to a dedicated and suitable workstation at remote location, including desk or table and supporting, upright chair. Must ensure workstation is safe and free from hazards and ergonomically appropriate.

Physical Requirements: This is generally a sedentary position. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and operate a computer for prolonged periods of time. You must have the ability to drive locally for events and appointments.
