What you will do
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. This role helps maintain project schedules, track progress, assist with budgeting activities, and ensure project documentation is organized and compliant. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to grow their project management skills within a collaborative construction environment.
How you will do it
The Assistant Project Manager reports directly to the northeast region major projects management team and works closely with project managers, field teams, local market leaders and trade partners to keep project activities running smoothly.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the review and tracking of project schedules, noting progress updates and identifying potential issues.
Assist in preparing project status reports, summaries, and presentations for internal teams and stakeholders.
Help identify and document project risks, track mitigation actions, and support communication of potential impacts.
Coordinate with project team members to resolve day‑to‑day issues and maintain workflow continuity.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date project documentation, including logs, meeting minutes, submittals, and change order records.
Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions related to progress, challenges, and next steps.
Assist with cost tracking activities, including reviewing invoices, monitoring budget updates, and supporting change management processes.
Monitor schedule progress and collaborate with the team to recommend adjustments when delays or conflicts arise.
Develop a working understanding of company contracts, scopes of work, and responsibilities of all project participants.
Learn and apply basic planning and scheduling best practices under the guidance of senior staff.
Support the Operations team in maintaining and updating multiple project schedules.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by offering feedback on processes and procedures.
Participate in training opportunities related to project management, scheduling, and project controls.
What we look for
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience
1–3 years of experience in MEP construction or a related construction environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
Basic understanding of construction industry standards, practices, and regulations
Preferred
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Experience supporting mechanical, HVAC, controls, BAS, fire, or security system projects (HVAC strongly preferred)
Familiarity with contract administration and procurement processes
PMP or CAPM certification (or interest in pursuing)
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $104,000- 143,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
