The Department of Undergraduate Education at the University of the Cumberlands seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Professor position beginning August 2026. This role primarily involves teaching undergraduate literacy courses grounded in the Science of Reading, with assignments based on the candidate’s expertise and departmental course rotation.

This position is primarily for on-campus teaching and other duties as outlined below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Campus Teaching: Fulfill teaching responsibilities within the School of Education, contributing to the academic mission of the university through instruction, curriculum development, and student mentorship.

  • Student Support: Serve as a resource for education students.

  • Academic Advising: Provide reliable information in planning student schedules and in keeping with graduation and program requirements

  • Service: Involvement in the life of the university such as service rendered to the respective college, school, and/or program, committee service, student activities/club involvement, attendance at other on or off-campus activities, other co-curricular activities, etc. as well as service to the local community such as civic and church involvement.

  • Scholarship and Professional Activities: Participate in presentations, attendance at conferences, professional memberships, etc., when the opportunity arises.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in English Language Arts and/or Elementary Education

  • Candidates with training in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS), dyslexia intervention, structured literacy, and other evidence-based Science of Reading practices are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with students and colleagues.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for student teachers.

  • School of Education Undergraduate Associate Dean

Contract:

  • Ten (10) Month
