We are now looking for a:

Tenure track Assistant Professor in Supply Chain Management

Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure track system are expected to exercise and guide scientific research, to provide higher academic education, to follow the advances of their field, to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field.

Your experience and ambitions

The applicants should

  • Hold a doctoral degree (or be near completion of the doctorate) in supply chain management, operations management, logistics or a related field

  • Demonstrate evidence or potential for excellence in research through international top-level publications in supply chain management, operations management or a related field

  • Show commitment to teaching and student supervision, and the ambition to become an excellent teacher (and those candidates that have already a few years of experience after their doctorate: show evidence of high-quality teaching in relevant fields)

The applicants are expected to be able to contribute to teaching of the supply chain management faculty on a broad set of topics and approaches. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach on topics related to the management of operations, processes and supply chain risks. We are looking for the candidate to be able to begin working in the position at the start of Academic year 2026-2027 (August-September 2026).

Consistent with EU insurance and pension regulations, Aalto expects full-time academic employees to reside and work in Finland. The position includes teaching, supervision and other duties that must be completed on-site.

The position is located in the Department of Information and Service Management, which consists of three disciplinary areas: Supply Chain Management, Information Systems Science, and Management Science. The department has bachelor’s, master's and doctoral students supported by 23 faculty members, and appreciates an active approach to international research collaboration and business co-operation. Both research and business collaboration are supported by our current faculty and Aalto’s multidisciplinary collaboration platforms for research and education.

At the assistant professor level, the tenure track covers two terms. The first term is from two to five years, with renewal for a second four-year term being based on a successful mid-term evaluation. Subsequent appointment to tenured Associate Professor position is based on a successful appointment review, conducted towards the end of the second term of the assistant professorship. The selected candidate may start either at first or second term, depending on their current career stage.
