Assistant Professor of Practice/Assistant Director of Clinical Education, Department of Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy education at Simmons dates back over 50 years. The program employs a problem-based, self-directed approach to learning, using case studies to integrate science and clinical knowledge with psychosocial, ethical, and behavioral aspects of patient care. Our faculty are advancing the field through research and creating exciting opportunities for students to engage in knowledge-building and discovery. We train physical therapists to be influential members of interprofessional healthcare teams and to serve diverse patient populations and communities. Our location in Boston’s Longwood Medical area promises dynamic student learning and professional training opportunities as it houses some of the nation’s best hospitals and clinics. Students are prepared for various professional paths, from sports medicine and chronic pain to emergent areas such as regenerative medicine.

The Department of Physical Therapy is housed in the School of Sciences and Health Professions (SSHP), which was launched in July 2024. In SSHP, you'll find inspiration at the intersection of health, life, nature, science, technology, and mathematics — cultivating innovative practices and procedures required to advance our scientific future, address complex problems, ask tough questions, reduce disparities, and improve our individual and collective health. SSHP’s vision is to actualize our knowledge of these fields so that students learn to lead with courage, practice with integrity, and bring about positive change and justice in our communities. SSHP is a collegial and supportive community of teachers and scholars within a uniquely multidisciplinary School.

Simmons faculty and staff are committed to empowering students to navigate, innovate, advocate, and collaborate in the rapidly changing and diverse industries associated with mathematics, technology, science, and the health professions. Our faculty are leaders in their fields and pride themselves on being personal mentors and guides for your intellectual and professional journeys; they are dedicated to helping students master the knowledge and fundamentals required to put competency and capability into practice through in-depth discussion and hands-on learning in our modern labs and facilities. Many SSHP faculty engage in collaborative research with several R1 institutions in the area and the many medical and research labs in the Longwood Medical Area and the greater Boston area.

Our students consider the natural and social worlds from multiple angles and perspectives, intersecting the health, public, life, mathematical, and computational sciences to address intriguing and complex issues related to our communities, practices, behaviors, and experiences.
