The College of Business Administration (COBA) at Texas A&M University-Central Texas welcomes highly qualified applicants to fill an immediate need for an Assistant or Associate Lecturer in Marketing starting in Fall 2026. This faculty position is a renewable, fixed-term position with potential additional summer teaching opportunities. Application reviews will begin immediately. We are looking for a dynamic and collegial individual with a passion for teaching, a proven track record of excellence both within and beyond the classroom, and the qualifications to teach a variety of courses in multiple areas. The ideal applicant should be a well-rounded and innovative faculty member who can contribute value in many ways and who possesses an established and well-documented track record of teaching excellence in both in person and online formats, industry experience/engagement, and experience with academic program development/growth.
A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H‑1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H‑1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
Institutional and College Overview
Established as an independent member of the Texas A&M University System in 2009, A&M-Central Texas is a friendly and dynamic regional teaching institution that prides itself on excellence in instruction, but also embraces a growing emphasis on research. A&M-Central Texas is truly unique in that it is an upper- and masters-level institution, offering only junior- and senior-level coursework needed to successfully complete baccalaureate degrees and all coursework leading to the completion of master’s degrees. As such, A&M-Central Texas maintains active partnerships with the major community colleges within the Austin and Central Texas region, as well with Fort Hood, a premier outpost of the U.S. Army and one of the largest military installations in the world. Our multifaceted student demographic includes a significant proportion of first-generation college students, non-traditional learners, and military-affiliated personnel.
The College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB, and we are eager to have dynamic and collegial new faculty members partner with us in pursuit of our major strategic initiatives, of which there are many on the near horizon. This is an exciting time of rapid change within the College that affords new faculty members many opportunities to make an immediate, significant, and lasting impact.
A&M-Central Texas is located on the southern edge of Killeen, TX, a city of approximately 150,000 located about halfway between Austin and Waco—about 60 miles either way. Our faculty members enjoy a wide variety of living options by virtue of the multiplicity in the area—from quiet and rural to bustling and cosmopolitan. It is an easy drive to great art, food, shopping, and night life as well as to hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping for those who prefer the outdoors. Central Texas is also a great place for families, with many options for schooling, worship, civic engagement, and recreation. It also has light traffic and a reasonable cost of living. The major metropolitan areas of Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio are all within a 3-hour radius of Killeen.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be expected to provide quality instruction for four or five courses per term, primarily at the undergraduate level and in a variety of course delivery formats (face-to-face, online, or hybrid). This position will primarily support the BBA Marketing program by providing instruction in principles of marketing, services marketing, and promotional strategy, but course assignments may change according to evolving department needs. In addition to supporting the BBA Marketing program, this faculty member will be expected to support department needs by teaching in one or more secondary areas. At present, we have needs in project management, business ethics, and general management. Our department faculty freely share course content with each other, and many courses are developed collaboratively. Wherever possible, previous course syllabi and instructional content from current faculty will be shared with this candidate to minimize the volume of preparations that are required. Faculty are also encouraged to propose and deliver new courses, often on a trial basis, to explore new content areas that add value to student career aspirations and to our academic programs.
While research output is not a key requirement for this position, the candidate is expected to engage in scholarly and/or professional activities sufficient to maintain “scholarly academic” or “professional academic” status per AACSB faculty classifications. This could be achieved by producing scholarship, maintaining a recognized professional certification, attending academic or trade conferences, engaging in consulting or other industry-related activities, and/or by completing other relevant professional development activities (workshops, etc.). Professional development funds are available to support this, and faculty within the College frequently collaborate on research projects together.
Service expectations for this position will be limited primarily to those events, committees, or initiatives that support and promote the Management & Marketing Department and the College of Business Administration (e.g., recruiting events, department/college meetings, accreditation-related tasks, focus groups with industry partners, etc.).
