As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will provide clinical supervision and coordinate daily unit operations in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, under the direction of the Nurse Manager. In this role, you will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient patient care for individuals of all ages during assigned shifts or as otherwise designated. You will serve as a clinical and operational resource for staff and assume the responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in his or her absence.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments and units regarding issues related to patient care.
Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts, coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers on assigned unit/area.
Counsel employees on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, and collaborate in monitoring attendance issues.
Alert nurse manager of significant clinical or other performance issues.
Participate in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees.
Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures.
Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care on assigned unit/area.
Prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts.
Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives; participate in department and committees as assigned.
Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through American Red Cross certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire
*If in an ASC providing care to Pediatric patients, PALS through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Ambulatory Surgery Center
Strong demonstrated clinic knowledge and skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Supervisory experience or charge nurse experience
Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work
