This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

HarbourVest is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our Transfer Agency Oversight team, delivering outstanding operational services to our clients and partners. This is an outstanding opportunity to help improve and scale our global operations.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Strong operational knowledge, with a deep understanding of fund administration and Transfer Agency processes, specifically with evergreen and closed-end fund structures.
  • Motivated (self-starter) and influential, able to work across multiple teams, geographies, and levels of seniority.
  • Collaborative and skilled at building strategic operating models to support business growth and scale.
  • Risk-aware, with the capabilities to find opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Excellent client service orientation.
     

What you will do:

  • Develop and implement central initiatives to optimize Transfer Agency and fund administration processes, driving efficiency gains and reducing operational risk across our global fund structures.
  • Serve as a key subject matter expert, providing mentorship and insights to internal collaborators and external partners on complex operational matters and industry guidelines.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with TAs, distributors, and other parties as needed.
  • Act as a contact for a blocking issue for the TA and various HarbourVest operation teams.
  • Calculate various distributor/intermediary fees and coordinate payments.
  • Own the documentation and evolution of the operating model ensuring that accountabilities and deliverables are clearly defined, understood, and met.
  • Act as level 1 Sub-Certifier for in our SOX program for any RIC product.
  • And other responsibilities as required
     

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and influencing operational teams and external service providers at a strategic level.
  • A proven track record of successfully designing and implementing scalable operating models within the private wealth or asset management industry.
  • Deep expertise in navigating the complexities of evergreen and closed-end fund structures, including regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify systemic issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to build consensus and drive results with diverse stakeholders.
     

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (BS/BA) or equivalent experience
     

Experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience in financial services preferably in private equity or asset management space
  • Familiarity with different legal structures used for investors to access private markets
