Assistant Manager - Quality

Role Summary

The Assistant Manager – Quality is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality systems, processes, and standards across the organization. The role ensures compliance with internal policies, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines while driving initiatives to improve product/service quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Compliance

  • Support the development and implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or industry-specific certifications.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist in external audits by customers or regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain documentation related to quality processes, CAPA, NCRs, and audit findings.

Process Improvement

  • Identify gaps in processes and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
  • Use tools like RCA, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA to analyze issues and drive improvements.
  • Support Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Monitor quality metrics, KPIs, and dashboards.
  • Oversee inspections and testing activities as per quality standards.
  • Ensure timely closure of customer complaints and non-conformities.
  • Review and approve quality reports, inspection reports, and test results.

Team Coordination & Training

  • Guide and support quality executives/inspectors.
  • Conduct training sessions on quality standards, SOPs, and compliance practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: production, operations, maintenance, supply chain, and customer service.

Customer Focus

  • Address customer quality concerns and coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Participate in customer meetings, audits, and quality reviews.
  • Ensure delivery of products/services meeting customer expectations.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, audits, CAPA, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with ISO standards or industry‑specific quality frameworks.
  • Proficiency in quality tools: RCA, FMEA, SPC, MSA, PDCA, 5S.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
  • Good communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead small teams and coordinate with multiple departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related field.
  • 4–7 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Certification in ISO, Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred), or relevant quality modules is an advantage.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Reduction in defects, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Audit scores and compliance adherence.
  • Timely closure of NCRs, CAPA.
  • Improvement in process efficiency and quality metrics.
  • Contribution to quality improvement projects.
