Assistant Manager, Projects
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join our Project Team. In this dynamic role, you will support the Section Head in managing renovation and upgrading works involving electrical and M&E systems across the University campus and any other off-campus properties under the management of the university, ensuring that facilities meet the needs of its academic, research, and administrative functions in alignment with the University’s mission. You will play a key role in delivering fast-paced renovation and upgrading projects, overseeing the entire project lifecycle — from concept design to construction and completion. This position offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders across the University.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee renovation and upgrading projects from design and budgeting to construction and handover, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality project delivery.
Work with users to establish project requirements and funding sources and manage consultants and contractors to deliver design and construction solutions that meet University standards.
Coordinate the design and procurement processes, including preparation and evaluation of tender documents, and administer contracts and variation orders within approved budgets.
Monitor site progress and workmanship to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Review and verify consultants’ and contractors’ submissions, progress claims, and project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with stakeholders and authorities to resolve design and site issues, ensuring smooth project execution and successful completion.
Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in M&E consultancy, engineering design, or project management.
Experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional projects; site supervision and coordination experience is an advantage.
Good understanding of renovation, construction and building regulatory requirements.
Good grasp of power distribution, lighting systems, ELV systems, ACMV interfaces, and general building services.
Familiarity with project budgeting, cost estimation, contract administration, and tender processes.
Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of REVIT/BIM is an advantage.
Able to read and review multidisciplinary M&E drawings.
Good analytical skills with attention to detail, particularly for validating space and technical data.
Good stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Good analytical, budgeting, and planning skills, with a proven ability to solve problems and deliver results
Independent, proactive, detail-oriented, and a good team player.
