The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) offers a full range of additive manufacturing services, from design and infrastructure to production and validation. With advanced technologies such as topology optimization, generative design, and bioinspired design, SC3DP creates optimized products using a variety of novel materials and printing processes, including hybrid printing, post-processing, and emerging technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities

  • Assesses feasibility of printing customer’s parts given varied material parameters and machine types.

  • Coordinates day-to-day operations of laboratory and seeks continuous improvement for laboratory operations (e.g. reduce cost and improve operational efficiency).

  • Operates state-of-the-art additive manufacturing equipment and other peripheral equipment.

  • Understands limitations and advantages of different types of additive manufacturing equipment.

  • Designs, fabricates, and tests parts and structures using additive manufacturing equipment and other facilities available in the lab; and ensures that all requirements and specifications stated in the project agreement are met.

  • Records and interprets results, and performing engineering and technical analyses.

  • Keeps up to date on new additive manufacturing technologies.

  • Provides technical know-how and assists Project PIs in formulating scope of potential projects; printing the parts; and ensuring timely completion of projects.

Secondary responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate training and outreach activities such as competitions, workshops, and seminars.

  • Supports ad-hoc requests concerning the laboratory e.g. lab visits

  • Assists Programme Director, Programme PIs and Hub Manager to write and prepare communications content and interface with industry.

  • Assists Project PIs to formulate technical references, develop international standards, develop a standards database, and commercialise / license the work conducted by the cluster.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, with relevant experience in additive manufacturing.

  • Hands on project experience

  • Hands on experience of redesigning and building parts and structures

  • Good writing, presentation, and social and communication skills

  • Meticulous, organised and diligent

  • Highly adaptable, resourceful and self-motivated

  • Able to work independently as well as in teams

  • Able to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment

  • Hands-on and enjoys creating and building things

  • Sharp, innovative doer

  • Create solutions to problems that have yet to be solved

  • Knowledge of 3D software will be advantage
