Assistant Manager Beverage

Reporting to the Beverage Manager, the Assistant Beverage Manager is to assist the Beverage Manager in providing direction and leadership for the Beverage Service team consistent with the Palms brand.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct smooth, efficient, cost-effective operation, including labor management, supervision of all aspects of services, scheduling, and inventory control.

  • Ensure all departmental service standards are upheld.

  • Manage Human Resources responsibilities for assigned department(s) to include creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction, quality hiring, training in compliance with Company policies, legal requirements, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

  • Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of outlets with specific focus on departmental and SNHD food safety standards, OSHA, Fire and Life Safety Regulations.

  • Maintain employee license requirements, attendance, payroll records, and files. 

  • Maintain a working relationship with the Culinary Union; comply with Company policies, legal requirements, and Collective Bargaining Agreements

  • Responsible for Create daily floor plans based on the schedule for the managers to use as a tool when overseeing the casino floor.

  • Edits and tracks employee’s time.

  • Post all bids, memos, and schedules in a timely manner. 

  • Assist with all processes and paperwork regarding hiring, separation, discipline, training, and compliance. 

  • Support all areas of the Beverage department by ensuring all products are stocked and properly inventoried for accurate cost control.

  • Seek ways in which to reduce departmental operating costs without affecting the quality of beverage or service.

  • Provide guidance and counsel to all beverage employees; ensure staff is scheduled properly. 

  • Resolve guest claims or other disputes between subordinate team members in a fair and patient manner.

  • Make sure prompt, courteous service is consistently provided to all guests.

  • Must be able to effectively interact with all departments regarding any issues that arise or need assistance.  

  • Keep the Beverage Manager informed of all pertinent information and irregularities occurring in the Beverage Department.   

  • Assist Beverage Manager and Director with projects as required. 

  • The Assistant Beverage Manager performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and assumes other responsibilities, duties, tasks and assignments that contribute to the mitigation or response to any public health emergency.

Qualifications:

·High school diploma or equivalent.

·Two (2) years of related experience.

·High volume restaurant management, beverage management or supervisory experience required.

·Basic knowledge of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e., telephone, copier, fax machine.

·Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills.

·Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.

·Work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.

·Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant, and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.

·Demonstrated experience developing department goals and action plans in accordance with property and overall company goals.

Obtain and maintain a TAM Card and Southern Nevada Food Handlers Card

Physical Demands:

·Work is performed in an office setting.

  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.

  • May be exposed to smoke

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

  • Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests.

  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.

  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Eye/hand coordination.

  • Use of standard office equipment.

  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols

  • May be required to work evening, weekends and holiday shifts.
