JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager Accounting Operations (12-month FTC/secondment)
SALARY: £43 803 - £48,670
LOCATIONS: Bristol
HOURS: Full-Time – 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced finance professional. The position is part of the Ledger Operations team within Accounting Operations (AO), a fast-moving group managing diverse processes. Responsibilities include ensuring journal postings are complete and accurate, adhering to strict SLAs. The role offers experience with general ledger journal postings, major finance IT systems, cost accounting, input on finance policy, and significant interaction with senior collaborators.
As a line manager within a team of 9, daily, weekly, and monthly activities are coordinated to ensure smooth operations and maintain high standards. The Accounting Operations team includes about 60 members within a larger Group Finance Support team of roughly 300. This group handles core systems, processes, financial reporting, and controls for the Finance Division.
This position suits a driven person who can support colleagues in completing operational ledger tasks while meeting their own goals. It offers a valuable chance to work in a shared service team, providing broad exposure and interaction with other Finance departments to help career growth.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly activities within the team.
Ensure journal entries are accurate and completed on time.
Maintain high standards across all processes.
Collaborate with key finance systems and gain exposure to cost accounting and finance policies.
Work together with senior leaders and other departments within Finance.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Qualified accountant (preferable, but not mandatory) or qualified by experience
Experience with key finance activities including general ledger transactions and operational finance activities
Ability to work well under pressure and to tight delivery deadlines engaging and working closely with multiple stakeholders
A drive to challenge processes, determining the most efficient, accurate, and controlled ways of doing things
A passion for doing things differently, challenging the status quo, and embracing new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence or Automation opportunities
Ability to line manage and collaborate with the wider group to share guidelines and champion high performance
