This position is responsible for supervising day-to-day direction of Maintenance personnel. The Assistant Maintenance Management position is responsible for the performance of quality maintenance as the focal point for work groups with the authority to support station priorities in accordance with regulatory requirements. In addition, this position drives performance improvement and fosters organizational behavior changes to transform the Maintenance department into a proficient and continuous learning organization. Incumbent in this position also represents the Maintenance Manager-Nuclear in their absence.
Responsibilities
1. Acts as the responsibility centers’ point of contact for the Corrective Action Program (CAP) issues and implementation.
2. Acts as the responsibility centers’ point of contact for the Performance Improvement Program issues and implementation.
3. Plans, directs, and manages Maintenance Department activities by establishing and communicating vision, conducting long range planning, communicating direction, implementing performance improvement, managing budget and department projects for the Maintenance Department.
4. Establishes Maintenance Area organizational structure and anticipates short- and long-term staffing requirements. In this capacity, ensures that selection, training, development, and qualification of personnel are completed in accordance with approved procedures, regulatory requirements, and overall organizational objectives.
5. Establishes and communicates station performance improvement standards and expectations that are consistent with best in industry and strategically aligned to station, business unit and corporate performance and business goals.
Basic Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
2. Five years of responsible nuclear power plant experience or applicable industrial experience, a minimum of one year of which shall be nuclear power plant experience. A maximum of two years of the remaining five years of power plant or industrial experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic or related technical training on a one-for-one time basis.
3. Minimum of 2 years management experience.

1. Thorough knowledge of Susquehanna training and certification programs.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
4. Ability to manage a fluctuating resource pool of people.
5. Ability to develop work strategies that yield a proven significant cost savings.
6. Knowledge of labor union / experience with labor contract implementation
