The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $58,656,000 - $73,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location

In this position, you can expect to work on-site at either Willis Case Golf Course or Overland Park Golf Course 5 days per week.

Denver Golf is looking to hire enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Golf Professionals to join our team at Willis Case Golf Course and Overland Park Golf Course.

Located just seven minutes north of downtown Denver and situated along I-70, Willis Case Golf Course is a beautiful course with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and challenges at every turn. Willis Case has served Denver golfers since 1934 with a meticulously manicured 18-hole regulation course, striking landscaping, free-to-all 4-hole junior course, and fully stocked clubhouse. The oldest running golf course west of the Mississippi River and the original Denver Country Club, Overland is covered in Denver history. Assistant Golf Professionals conduct standard-level golf professional work assisting the Head Golf Professional in devising, coordinating, and promoting daily play and tournament activities, golf lessons, pro shop operations, merchandising, and golf cart fleet operations.

Specifically, as an Assistant Golf Professional you will:

  • Assist the Head Golf Professional with the design, marketing, and implementation of golf programs that result in increased course revenues and enhanced customer service
  • Enforce golf course rules and regulations and maintain standards and policies
  • Assists in creating high profile lesson programs to attract large numbers of golfers to our golf courses and related facilities
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure proper coverage
  • Create and maintain employee schedules
  • Carry out hiring and termination processes
  • Perform cash-handling duties, including bank runs and managing cash drawers
  • Serve as the primary contact for security and building – security matters
  • Assist in coordinating daily play, tournament, and other golf activities to balance play and course conditions at appropriate levels, provide maximum service and enhance per round revenues
  • Administer pro shop operations to include product merchandising, receiving all incoming shipments of merchandise, calculating wholesale and retail prices for all items, entering all shipments received into inventory and maintaining displays on the sales floors
  • Rotate merchandise among facilities on a regular basis
  • Ensure that proper documentation is prepared for all transfers among facilities, complete physical inventories on a regular schedule, and maintain current inventory and sales records
  • Prepare annual buying plan based on analysis of sales data and industry trends and complete purchase orders for payment of pro shop invoices
  • Assist in the management of golf cart fleet operations, including staging, daily maintenance, and upkeep
  • Perform lead work and training of golf shop personnel, cart attendants, and on-course rangers/starters
  • Assist in the management of driving range operations

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a knowledgeable and self-motivated professional with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.  Moreover, we are seeking someone who relishes opportunities to teach, has strong merchandising experience, and golf club knowledge.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience using a computerized POS system
  • Experience with tournament management
  • Experience with merchandise management
  • Experience with Tee sheet management
  • Both inside and outside golf experience including personnel management and supervision, vendor relations, back of house operations, and instruction
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience in the golf industry.
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
  • License/Certification Requirement: Class "A" membership in the PGA/LPGA at the time of application.  This membership status must be maintained while holding a Golf Professional 1st Assistant position as a condition of employment OR  Enrollment in a program to attain class "A" PGA/LPGA membership status at the time of application or by the end of probation.  Enrollment in a program must be continuous, and satisfactory progress otherwise maintained until class "A" membership is attained.

Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
