THE ROLE
Under General Manager’s supervision, the Assistant General Manager coordinates the day-to-day activities of the various departments within the Facility. Helps to facilitate optimum efficiency, maximize profits and provide exceptional customer service by performing the following duties individually or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directs, supervises and schedules aspects of operations including building and ground maintenance, shipping/receiving, safety, security, ADA compliance, sustainability, set up, housekeeping services, engineering and IT.
Initiates and maintains rapport with Facility customers, their associates and external service providers to make certain best in class standards are facilitated and customer’s expectations and optimum service is always being provided.
Creates, issues, and manages aspects of procurement including request for proposals/qualifications, contract creation and diversity participation as directed by GM.
Responsible for contractor compliance as directed by GM.
Responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance of the Facility and Legends’s Safety Programs for all employees, sub-contractors, and users of the Facility. This shall include training, tracking, reporting and creation of Safety Programs as directed by GM.
Oversees the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules, emergency response plan(s), crisis management plan(s), emergency procedures, cyber security best practices, safety and risk management policies in compliance with all applicable local, corporate and governmental regulations.
Negotiates contracts and agreements with suppliers, promoters, vendors, unions, contractors and/or service providers for necessary services at the Facility as assigned by GM.
Serves as project lead for special projects, such as construction, remodeling or expansion. Plans and directs outside vendors/contractors work to assure compliance with contracts and safety requirements.
Develops, reviews, renews and ensures accuracy of bid specifications for agreements with service providers and suppliers for necessary maintenance, repairs and other services at the Facility.
Assures the coordination, implementation, and administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by local and corporate directives, to include but not limited to: maintain high-standards for guest services, employee training and development, quality assurance, energy efficiency, safety/emergency, crowd control, cleanliness and crisis management procedures, or others as required.
Ensures compliance with current and future LEED standards and protocols.
Prepares and delivers in person presentations to potential Facility users including, but not limited to associations, corporations, and organizations.
Represents the Facility for both in and out of town sales activities, including industry-related regional and national tradeshows and meetings.
Ensures bid proposals are prepared correctly and turned around efficiently to allow for speed to market to allow for best capturing of event bookings.
Supports production meetings, pre-cons, post-cons, and site visits in conjunction with or in absence of General Manager.
Negotiates collective bargaining agreements as directed by GM and maintains strong working relationships with union representation at the Facility.
Implement Facility policies and goals in accordance with the management contract, client’s objectives, and corporate policy.
Meet with department heads to review activity, operating, and sales reports. Determine changes to the programs and/or operations and oversee implementation with the department heads.
Assist in the development of long-range plans and program objectives in accordance with the management contract and corporate policy.
Implement procedures within the departments to establish and maintain customer service standards that are designed to ensure a positive and professional image and generate repeat business.
Assist in the preparation of the annual plan including but not limited to annual budget and capital project budget for future repairs and improvements to the Facility.
Conduct post-event operational and financial review and analysis.
Coordinate, implement and administer personnel development/training and safety/emergency procedures.
Review and approve all purchasing, travel and promotional expense activity.
Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum of seven (7) years’ industry experience with at least three (3) of those years in a management function of an arena, convention center or stadium; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
COMPENSATION
$150,000
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
