Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for an Assistant General Counsel at our Hillsboro, OR location.
SUMMARY
The Assistant General Counsel serves Peterson Holding Company, including its subsidiaries and affiliates, (“the Company”) as in-house counsel and is responsible for providing professional legal advice and representation for operational legal matters, with focus on customer contracts.

Act as a legal partner to the Company’s business units, providing legal advice, guidance, and support with a focus on customer contracts, including but not limited to sales and services agreements, purchase orders, construction bids, reseller, and supply agreements.
Provide guidance on data privacy, protection laws, and artificial intelligence (AI) governance for contracts and agreements in which the Company is a party.
Leverage Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools and AI-powered contract review technology to accelerate turnaround times and improve consistency across legal templates.
Develop and maintain a contract negotiation playbook, including approved fallback positions, to streamline the sales process.
Draft, review, and negotiate customer contracts and other agreements as needed.
Perform legal research and advise business units on legal risks, providing actionable, easily understandable guidance.
Provide guidance on regulatory compliance requirements, as they relate to supply chain and customer contracts.
Manage disputes and resolve customer conflicts through negotiation.
Keep abreast of industry trends, provide advice and counsel to leadership, and ensure regulations are complied with and legal rights are acted upon.
Manage outside counsel and provide general oversight and organization of their assignments and budget.
Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Juris Doctorate Degree from a fully accredited college in Law approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), admitted and in good standing in Oregon or California; and a minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience in law; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience with construction contracts and bidding process is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Admitted to the bar in Oregon or California.
Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and satisfactory driving record.
