BASIC FUNCTION
To assist the Head Football Coach in the administration and operation of the football program.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Cornerbacks Coach is responsible for the development, training, and performance of the cornerbacks. This role involves teaching fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies essential for defensive players to excel in coverage, tackling, and overall defensive schemes.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Train and mentor CBs in fundamental skills such as throwing mechanics, footwork, decision-making, and reading defenses.
- Create individualized training programs that address the specific needs and strengths of each CB.
- Develop and implement practice plans that focus on improving performance.
- Analyze game film to evaluate CB performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of game plans, including play selection and situational strategies.
- Utilize video analysis tools to assess cornerback mechanics and decision-making during practices and games.
- Track and analyze individual and team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Foster a positive and competitive environment that encourages growth and development among CBs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree
- Experience coaching at the college level, high school level and/or equivalent professional experience
- An understanding of the rules and policies of the NCAA
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and promote an inclusive environment
