The Assistant ECommerce Merchandise Planning Manager is responsible for ensuring the optimal product availability, assortment balance and stock health across all ECommerce markets and channels. 

This role connects commercial performance, inventory management and merchandising strategy, ensuring that the right products are available at the right time, in the right markets, to maximise sales, minimise stock risk and support profitable growth. 

Working closely with Merchandising, Operations, Business Performance, and Marketing teams, the role provides data-driven planning, forecasting, product insights and trading recommendations to improve product performance and commercial outcomes. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

1. Assortment & Inventory Planning 

  • Define and maintain the ECommerce assortment strategy across markets and channels
  • Ensure optimal product availability, depth and stock allocation based on demand patterns
  • Monitor stock levels and identify risks of stock-outs, overstock or imbalanced assortment
  • Collaborate with Merchandising and Supply Chain teams to improve allocation and replenishment decisions

 

2. Demand Forecasting & Sales Planning 

  • Develop sales and demand forecasts by category, market and product lifecycle
  • Translate performance insights into buying, replenishment and allocation recommendations
  • Support seasonal and promotional planning with accurate stock and sales projections
  • Work closely with Business Performance to align product forecasts with traffic and conversion expectations

 

3. Product Performance & Fashion Insight 

  • Monitor product-level performance across key KPIs, including: sell-through, stock cover, margin contribution, and weeks of supply 
  • Identify best sellers, emerging trends and underperforming items
  • Combine data analysis with product intuition to identify opportunities within collections
  • Provide insights that help optimise assortment balance across categories, styles and price points

 

4. Commercial Trading & Optimisation 

  • Support weekly trading discussions with insights on: product performance, stock availability, and commercial opportunities 
  • Recommend corrective actions such as: product pushes, assortment adjustments, markdown strategies, and stock rebalancing across markets

 

5.  ECommerce Product & Inventory Operations Governance 

  • Lead the operational governance of ECommerce inventory across markets and systems, ensuring accurate stock visibility and product availability to support commercial trading
  • Ensure alignment between product launches, inventory availability and campaign timelines across e-commerce markets
  • Oversee product and inventory lifecycle execution across the platform, including launch readiness, stock activation, markdown implementation and product exit management
  • Work closely with Logistics, Operations and Supply Chain teams to manage inventory flow and resolve operational constraints impacting product availability

 

 

Requirements:

  •  4 - 7 years of experience in merchandise planning, allocation, buying analysis or retail planning
  • Experience working in ECommerce or omnichannel retail environments, within fashion, lifestyle or consumer retail brands
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and inventory optimisation 
  • Experience with Excel / Google Sheets modelling, and BI tools such as Power BI, Looker, or similar
  • Experience working with merchandising or ERP systems is a plus
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented with a strong ownership mindset
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders
