What is an Assistant Distribution Dispatcher?
Assistant Distribution Dispatchers work an 8-hour rotating shift in our 24/7 Distribution System Operations Control Room, which coordinates the work of personnel engaged in the safe and reliable operation of the electric and gas distribution systems. An ADD must possess the ability and skills necessary to fully operate various software programs that the Company utilizes to monitor and control the electric and gas distribution systems, assess storm damage, assign and dispatch field personnel, and optimize crew and work schedules. An ADD must be able to multitask, communicate effectively to direct field personnel, and collaborate in an interactive team environment.
What does an Assistant Distribution Dispatcher do?
All duties are performed under direct supervision of a qualified Distribution Dispatcher, Distribution Operator, Chief Distribution Operator or Management.
Dispatches field personnel engaged in the operation of the Electric and Gas Distribution systems including emergency response and in the performance of commercial-type work.
Ensures that all assigned work is completed in a timely and cost-efficient manner to obtain the optimum balance of customer satisfaction and cost minimization
Assesses the need for additional resources in the field, Call Center, and Control Center after-hours to ensure a prompt response to emergencies and heightened activity and perform callouts for field personnel, Call Center personnel, and Control Center personnel when directed
Provides guidance to the Call Center personnel after-hours when necessary.
Promptly informs the qualified Distribution Dispatcher, Distribution Operator, Chief Distribution Operator or Management of significant and/or unusual events.
Ensures the highest levels of safe work practices are observed by personnel including field personnel to strive for an accident and injury free workplace.
Participates in and successfully completes all required training including but not limited to the Distribution Dispatcher Initial Training Program and progress towards a qualified Distribution Dispatcher

What does it take to be an Assistant Distribution Dispatcher?
The qualifications for this job include a High School or an Equivalency Diploma and one of the following:
A two (2) year technical degree in a field such as Engineering, Mechanical Science or other technology related field
Three (3) years of experience in the electric or gas utility field or emergency response dispatch field.
A valid driver’s license

Pay range: $40.88-$44.07/hour
