1. Oversee compilation, analysis and reporting of key tourism statistics, ensuring that communication of tourism performance outcomes and delivery of insights are done in a timely manner.
2. Translate data and research into actionable and meaningful insights that would guide both internal teams and external industry stakeholders, with the objective of driving data-driven decision making across the organisation.
3. Liaise and coordinate with information agencies across Whole-of-Government (WOG).
4. Fulfilment of analytics deliverables and where applicable, data partnerships with external stakeholders.

1. Lead, manage and drive data cleaning, exploration, ingestion, compilation and analysis to derive insights and support business outcomes related to STB’s key tourism performance measures including Visitor Arrivals, Tourism Receipts, Hotels Stats.

2. Direct and coordinate data collection and analytics strategies, analysis of data collected from both quantitative and qualitative methods to come up with evidence-based insights that will help drive business outcomes. This includes performing data wrangling and transformation to prepare raw data into analysis-ready formats, manage data ingestion, applying statistical/analytical methods to extract insights from data, utilising data visualisation tools to communicate findings effectively.

3. Deliver tourism performance insights to stakeholders.

4. Monitor and lead a team on regular reporting, publications and data requests from stakeholders and maintain key databases from which analysis is drawn from.

5. Oversee all aspects of project management, ranging from contract and vendor management to end-to-end data operations, including fulfilling data custodian role of ensuring good quality data, developing and/or enhancing existing datasets and dashboards.

6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product managers, data scientists/engineers and business stakeholders, to integrate and deploy models and dashboards into analytics platforms.

7. Provide data advisory support to internal (within STB) and external (WOG, industry) stakeholders as relevant. This may include the assessment of economic contributions from major tourism projects.

8. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather intelligence on emerging issues and provide actionable insights.

9. Provide effective leadership and guidance to the analytics team in the areas of operational data analytics including data manipulation to extract insights, synthesis of results and ensuring data accuracy and alignment with organisational outcomes and communicating the findings to stakeholders.

a) Trained in Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or a related quantitative discipline

b) A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in data analytics, interpretation and visualisation, with at least 3 years’ experience in leading teams.

c) Strong foundational knowledge of data analytics methodologies and analytics skills, with a good eye for detail and possess an aptitude/experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.

d) Good mastery of market research methodologies.

e) Advantageous if you have experience in research applications in a client-side context.

f) Working knowledge in statistical modelling and forecasting.

g) Proven track record and hands on experience in integrating and synthesising research and data across multiple sources to derive meaningful conclusions.

h) Proven track record in engaging different groups of stakeholders (within and outside of the organisation).

i) Fluency in data manipulation to extract insights, strategic direction and narrative, forecasting and project future visitor demand.

j) Strong business orientation with the ability to connect understanding from data to key business outcomes.

k) Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate complex data/ concepts and outcomes of analysis to business users.

l) Mature and comfortable presenting to and interacting with people from senior management levels.

m) Strong organisation, project and time management skills

n)Possess statistical knowledge and comfortable working with large datasets.

o) Proficient in usage of analytics tools e.g. R, SQL, Python.

p) Highly self-motivated, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines, adapt to and lead a team effectively in dynamic situations.

q) Meticulous, detail-oriented and able to work independently.

r) English written and verbal fluency required.

s) Proven ability to influence without authority.

u) Passion for learning new technologies/ tools.

v) Understanding of economic impact and cost benefit assessment is a plus.
