Job Description

The Assistant Director will cultivate the understanding and reach of Wellesley’s lifelong alumnae community, beginning during the undergraduate experience. They will develop strategies that allow recent graduates to feel supported and connected to Wellesley, appreciated for their recent accomplishments here, and recognized for their individual needs and goals. Through early engagement, Wellesley seeks to build the pipeline for long-term loyalty and philanthropy. The role has three main areas of focus: recent alumnae engagement, student engagement, and social media engagement. All aspects require strategic collaboration with WCAA colleagues and with numerous campus partners. As a member of the WCAA team, this position will support Reunion and other event execution and planning as needed.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Young Alum Engagement and Volunteer Coordination: Lead recent graduate efforts and spearhead the creation of a new alumnae group specifically for young alumnae. Identify and oversee a portfolio of recent graduates, connecting them to key career, philanthropic, and volunteer opportunities with Wellesley College and the alumnae community. 

  • Student Engagement & Traditions: Plan and execute student engagement programming, with the goal of familiarizing students with the lifelong opportunities and alumnae identity. Execute and evaluate in-person programs, which include True Blue To Do; first year welcome; Stepsinging; senior celebrations; etc. (including staffing weekend/evening events). Recruit, train and manage Reunion student staff (including during Reunion weekend), working closely with Class Deans and other campus stakeholders throughout the hiring and training process. 

  • Social Media Coordination: Lead the WCAA and Wellesley Magazine social media presence, collaborating with Communications and Public Affairs and Development colleagues. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting and managing Reunion student workers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years relevant experience required

  • Experience creating, building, communicating and measuring new initiatives.

  • Wellesley alum preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team within a culturally diverse environment

  • Familiarity with leveraging social media platforms to support communication strategies, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Discord

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written & oral communication skills

  • Ability to set and measure objectives and adjust work based on results. 

  • Ability to liaise with key campus partners, including Student Life, Development and Career Education

  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Ability to work with a wide range of alumnae identities and perspectives and long-range institutional objectives

  • Familiarity with Canva and basic graphic design skills

  • Comfort with a range of technology systems including Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Zoom. Salesforce/Affinaquest experience preferred.

Flexibility & Schedule: We value a collaborative hybrid environment. Our standard schedule includes three days on campus to connect with the team, with two days of remote work. Wednesdays are required in-office days for the entire team.

Salary:

The pay range for this role is $59,000 - $67,000
