Position Purpose

The Assistant Director of Security will provide assistance and support to the Director of Security in the operations and strategic direction of the property’s security and life safety programs.  This position will provide direct support in the daily operations of the onsite security service vendor and ensure all contract requirements are being met.  Position will positively interact with tenants, visitors, guests, contractors and onsite personnel to ensure security protocols are consistently rendered in a professional manner.  This position is for a Class A multi-tenant high rise office client and the ideal candidate will have direct applicable experience.

 

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provides direct support and assistance to the Director of Security.

  • Provides assistance and support in the design, implementation and maintenance of the property’s security and life safety programs.

  • Assists in the maintenance of the property emergency preparedness program (known as 4Sight / In Case of Crisis).

  • Assures City of Chicago High Rise Buildings – Emergency Procedures standard (Chapter 13-78) is current and tenant Life Safety Teams are established and trained.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists Director of Security in the development of security and life safety standards, systems, processes and best practices.

  • Works with security services partner in the application of all security and life safety processes and ensures the highest level of service is rendered at all times.  Provides oversight to Security Account Manager.

  • Collaborates with Director of Security and property management team to resolve security and life safety related matters.

  • Assembles appropriate resources to address security, life safety concerns and/or crisis situations.

  • Keeps management apprised of potential risks and proactively communicates critical security and life safety information to property management

  • Collaborates on the security and life safety budget to reduce costs and gain efficiencies in security and life safety programs.

  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with security services vendor and / or any other security and life safety vendor(s).

  • Develops and maintains relationship with local fire and police departments.

 

 

Operational Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides overall support to the security team to ensure that they provide high levels of service to tenants, visitors, guests and contractors.

  • Assures that all security policies and procedures are adhered to by all security team members and the requirements of the security contract are consistently met.

  • Assists in the development, maintenance of the property emergency response programs and ensures that the property team and tenants are prepared to handle any emergency.

  • Provides maintenance to the 4SIGHT / In Case of Crisis and SDISecure emergency response plan.

  • Conducts tabletop exercises refining the management team’s response to emergency situations and that the tenant life safety teams are properly trained.

  • Assists in the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive security life safety training program.

  • Manages the semi-annual fire drills and evacuation exercises in concert with the Chicago Fire Department.

  • Prepares and submits security incident reports in compliance with management, ownership, and insurance carrier requirements.

  • Shares security life safety best practices and benchmarking with other JLL properties.

  • Obtains necessary security training and certification to be a top security and life safety professional.

  • Acts as point of contact and fills in for Director of Security when not on-site.

  • Performs as back-up for Badging Administrator.

Estimated compensation for this position:

88,000.00 – 93,500.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
