About the Role

As Assistant Director of Finance for Four Seasons Hotel Hanoi at Hoan Kiem Lake, you will assist the Director of Finance in managing all financial aspects of the hotel’s operations, ensuring compliance with corporate and local policies, and supervising the accounting team to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and integrity in all financial processes.

What You Will Do

Financial Operations

  • Thoroughly understand and apply the Accounting & Finance Manual and standards.

  • Oversee month-end processes, including financial statements, accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.

  • Prepare daily cash position reports and manage investment of excess funds per corporate guidelines.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Ensure accurate calculation and payment of rent and revenue/profit-related fees per agreements.

  • Approve all journal entries with proper documentation; ensure non-standard entries are countersigned by the Director of Finance.

  • Maintain strict controls over cheques and electronic payments, ensuring segregation of duties and compliance with signatory requirements.

  • Ensure accurate exchange rates in financial reporting per Management Agreement.

  • Oversee tax compliance and timely filing of local, state, and federal returns.

  • Monitor and control hotel expenses, addressing issues that impact profitability and guest experience.

  • Ensure proper handling of house funds and floats to minimize exposure.

  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and disclosure of gains/losses on disposals.

Compliance & Audit

  • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits.

  • Ensure all reconciliations and bank statements are reviewed and countersigned by the Director of Finance.

  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies and local regulations.

  • Continuously strive for process improvement and efficiency.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Maintain harmonious and professional relationships with all departments.

  • Comply with and enforce Four Seasons’ Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in Empact.

  • Plan, organize, lead, and control projects and activities within the Finance team.

  • Identify coaching opportunities and turn them into learning and development moments.

  • Establish rapport with the Finance team and other hotel divisions.

  • Hold monthly department meetings to ensure communication and resolve issues.

  • Develop and implement staff training programs to minimize turnover and maintain high morale, focusing on future advancement.

  • Supervise, train, and motivate staff to understand their duties and responsibilities.

  • Prepare performance reviews, development plans, and take appropriate personnel actions (hire, commend, discipline, evaluate).

  • Actively network within the community to attract potential candidates.

Others

  • Ad-hoc assignments: To take on any other tasks or projects that may be assigned by the management from time to time.

  • Carries out other special project/ tasks as assigned by supervisor.

What You Bring

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar position within Four Seasons or another organization.

  • Global perspective with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to continuous innovation.

  • Professional conduct always.

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, USALI, and financial reporting standards.

  • Proven leadership skills in a hotel/resort environment.

  • Highest level of integrity and transparency.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to promote a continuous learning environment and serve as a role model for ethical conduct.

  • Strategic, analytical, and solid business acumen.

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, Four Seasons Internal Controls, Policies and Procedures, and job knowledge of all positions in Accounting, Purchasing, and F&B Control.

  • Technical proficiency in computer systems; advanced Excel skills required. Knowledge of Sun, and Opera systems highly valued.
