The Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance (supervisor title), this position is responsible for monitoring compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Pac-12 Conference, and Washington State University bylaws, rules, and regulations.

Specifically, the Assistant Director of Compliance (employee title) will run the day-to-day compliance operations of the assigned sport programs including, but not limited to: monitoring each bylaw (11-17); researching and preparing interpretations and waivers; scheduling and presenting rules education; conducting investigations of potential violations; monitoring and evaluation of incoming freshmen and prospective transfer academic eligibility as well as financial aid receipt.

The position will serve as a unit lead for multiple campus partners and internal athletic departments. In this role, the Assistant Director of Compliance will be the subject matter expert providing the Compliance Office with monitoring, educational, and interpretive support. This position will provide additional support to the Compliance Office through rules education initiatives and other projects as assigned.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.


Monthly Salary: $4,166.67 - $5,000.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends on an occasional basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.

  • Three years employment or equivalent experience with NCAA Division I compliance.

  • Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, LSDBI, Compliance Assistant Software, Teamworks or other relevant software.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I and Pac-12 rules.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of groups.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated work-related experiences that require strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
