Job Description
The Office of Campus Recreation at The University of Tampa has an opening for the position Assistant Director, Facilities and Operations. This position is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Benson Alex Riseman Fitness & Recreation Center, including student employee supervision and facilities management. This position will report to the Associate Director, Fitness and Facilities. As a member of the Office of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of data-informed practice, sense of belonging, overall well-being, professional staff development, retention and persistence, and Spartan Ready® culture. This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of (1) Student Coordinators (10+) Facility Supervisors, and (30+) Weight Floor Attendants
2. Manage reservation process for Benson Alex Riseman Fitness Center, outdoor recreation courts and Cass Gym
3. Assist Associate Director with risk management assessment and planning including but not limited to creating and updating policies, procedures and handbooks related to risk management, and administering safety audits
4. Responsible for ownership of internal operations software, Connect2Conncepts, and utilize to maintain facility counts, accident and incident reports, task lists and more.
5. Establish and maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies, develop and execute appropriate cleaning protocols, and collaborate with Facilities Management department when necessary
6. Assist with Campus Recreation assessment projects including collection, tracking, and analyzing of usage data
7. Research and develop potential opportunities for additional programming and usage of Cass Gym
8. Facilitate regularly scheduled student staff meetings and training sessions, integrating Spartan Ready Competencies
9. Strategically collaborate with campus partners focusing on enhancing facility management, reservation processes, risk management and student development
10. Assist with the development, implementation, and review of all rules, regulations, and policies governing the Office of Campus Recreation
11. Assist with facilitation efforts on the UT Leadership Challenge Course
12. Assist in preparation and management of comprehensive budget
Requirements:
1. Master's degree required. Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Recreation Management or a related field preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience working at a fitness facility and/or recreation center.
3. Must have knowledge of the day-to day operational requirements of a fitness center/ recreational facility.
4. Familiarization with broad range of facility and fitness/sporting equipment
5. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills needed as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
6. Must have or attain (within 90 days of employment) a valid CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Certification from the American Red Cross.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Evenings and weekends may be required.
