[What the role is]
The Building Development Department (BDD) oversees the development, redevelopment and refurbishment of MSE-owned infrastructure such as hawker centres and after-death facilities. BDD sources funding, plans and establishes detailed scope of work, engages consultants and contractors to carry out the work, conducts design review and cost reports, and manages projects from commencement to completion.[What you will be working on]
Working in a team environment, you will be involved in the development of hawker centres and markets. Your duties will include:
Reviewing tender & contract documents, preparing cost reports and forecasts
Monitoring project timelines and budgets, conducting cost analysis and design reviews
Administering contracts and managing change orders and variations
Liaising with project consultants, authorities and stakeholders on design, cost and progress of works
Working with advisors, grassroots leaders and government/non-government organisations on project cost and development matters
Managing a multi-disciplinary team to ensure cost-effective and timely project delivery
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
[What we are looking for]
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in construction cost management
Experience with public sector projects and procurement processes
Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders
Effective organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Good analytical and leadership skills
