[What the role is]
The Data & Research department at the National Arts Council (NAC) is at the forefront of building Singapore's arts and culture research and data ecosystem. We commission cutting-edge research, implement robust data practices, and harness analytics to shape national arts and culture policy and programme development. Through strategic collaborations with government agencies, academic institutions, cultural organisations, and arts practitioners, we strengthen the sector's research capabilities and drive evidence-based decision-making that supports the growth of Singapore's vibrant arts landscape. As we continue to expand our impact and deepen our analytical capabilities, we are seeking dynamic staff to join our team and contribute to this vital work.
As a Data Analyst, your role is to serve as a subject matter specialist in data analytics, management and acquisition, delivering analyses and actionable insights that inform evidence-based policy decisions and operational improvements in support of NAC’s data and digital transformation and the development of Singapore’s arts and cultural landscape.
[What you will be working on]
You will transform raw data into meaningful insights, analyse data using appropriate methodologies, create models and dashboards, and facilitate the organization's understanding of insights, trends, and visualizations.
Your key responsibilities/activities include:
a) Serving as a subject matter specialist in acquiring and managing data, and the application of analytics and data science techniques.
- E.g. Scoping problem statement and recommending solutions, acquiring data, providing guidance to data projects
b) Utilising analytics tools to generate value-added analyses and insights and developing predictive models that guide policy, programming and operations.
- E.g. Using programming tools/languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL) to analyse data, develop models for data extraction, classification, and forecasting.
c) Creating data visualisations and dashboards using business intelligence tools to inform decision-making.
- E.g. Using visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Excel, AWS QuickSight) to develop analyses, developing visually appealing and easy-to-understand dashboards, presenting complex data in accessible formats for various stakeholder groups.
d) Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimise data analysis and management processes.
- E.g. Understanding stakeholders’ needs and issues, innovating and developing data solutions, and optimising data analysis and management for the organisation.
[What we are looking for]
- Knowledge in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related discipline
- Proficiency in data cleaning, processing, exploration and visualisation.
- Proficient in coding languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL) for data analysis and model development
- Proficient in data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, AWS QuickSight, Excel)
- Proactive and curious individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal, verbal, data visualisation, and written communication skills and able to work well in cross-functional teams
- Previous experience with data analysis in a public sector or corporate setting is preferred.
